It’s a common misconception that Auroras are Northern lights. Truth is, Auroras occur on both poles of the planet Earth, the obvious implication being there’s a Southern light as well. Auroras are the visualization of the Earth’s protective magnetic field that acts as a shield against the Sun’s energy. The grand spectacle appearing up there is a never-ending battle between the Sun and the Earth. The Southern dance of these particles against the push and pull of the magnetic field is known as “Australis”.
If one has explored the world of finance, one truly knows that profit usually resides in the unknown, the unforeseen or unexpected. If you’re not fast enough, you’re exit liquidity or never profit to full potential. At Australis, we aim for that which is unknown, unforeseen and unexpected.
Australis is a DeFi lending protocol on the Aurora network. We picked Aurora because it is the future of blockchain. Aurora is a smart contract on the NEAR protocol, opening the door for EVM compatibility. It is not a classic L2 solution, but a socket into the huge, secure and vast chain of NEAR.
NEAR has provided the means to extremely low transaction fees with high speed using their L1 Nightshade sharding solution. Australis aims for unforeseen areas and focuses on the missing pieces of this fast growing ecosystem; be it lending, leveraging, borrowing, flash loans, dev tools or integrity, we’re determined to further promote individual sovereignty. Therefore, not only do we believe in blockchain and its future, we believe in NEAR and Aurora.
There’s no denying the success of money markets such as Aave and Compound on Ethereum or protocols such as Solend on Solana and Benqi on Avalanche. This fact indicates the users’ desire to keep control over their own finances rather than having to go through outdated methods provided by classic banking systems. We respect this preference and strive to develop better alternatives for our users.
Us at Australis, a team of over 30 DeFi enthusiasts, salute everyone who wants to walk the walk with us, take a stroll through the unknown, through the borders of safe zones, past the old ways and towards the stars.
We’re here, connecting the stars.
